Jesus finds the Light!

Lots of Jesus Juice today...

According to the Mirror Jesus and M spending a lot of (I assume - sexy) time and he's taking his first steps towards Madonna's spiritual path:

"Jesus is totally taken with Madonna and is slightly in awe of her. Quite simply he can't get enough, and finds her utterly compelling and bewitching.

"The pair have spent a lot of time together in recent weeks and Madonna's chatted quite freely about her personal beliefs - especially Kabbalah." Madge has obviously made quite an impression on the boy from Brazil. "He has taken a real interest in it and started making a few online enquiries into the faith," our source goes on. "He has joined an online Kabbalah group and is keen to become an active member. Madonna has also offered to take him to the Kabbalah centre in New York and he is exceedingly keen to take her up on that."

Page Six on M dining with Jesus (again) at the Macelleria this Wednesday, and him juggling 2 girlfriends in the recent past:

MADONNA'S VERY BUSY GUY

WHILE Madonna has been busy squiring "baby" Jesus Luz around town - they dined at Macelleria Wednesday night - reporters in Brazil have been looking into the 22-year-old model's recent past. According to newspaper columnist Monica Bergamo, "Luz was dividing his time between two girlfriends before he encoun tered Madonna for a pictorial in W magazine. Every week he would stay with one or the other." Asked for an interview, Krishna Siqueira, one of his exes, demanded payment. Jesus, a fan of electronic music, was a regular at four different discos in Rio de Janeiro, where he lived with his mother, a beautician in an Ipanema salon. One of his mother's clients was a fashion execu tive who put him into modeling. Luz, a member of the Orkut social networking site, writes in his profile: "It is not important what the others think about us. The most important is what and whom [sic] we are. I have a clear conscience even if I am condemned. We cannot forget that Jesus was condemned." Luz now calls the US home and has joined Kabbalah.
*******
The Sun dug up about Jesus via the Brazilian press:

"Until his recent brush with rock royalty, Jesus was a relatively unknown male model who even made a one-off appearance in an amateurish Brazilian soft-porn TV show called Hostel.

In it a trio of scantily-clad actresses bring to life the sexual fantasies sent in by viewers and Jesus starred as a character called Diogo whose girlfriend attempts to lure him into a threesome.

However he falls asleep in a chair, leaving his frustrated female friend to have sex with a second man while he snoozes.

In contrast with his recent risque endeavours, Jesus was raised a strict Catholic and attended the prestigious Colegio Pedro II school in Rio.

Ironically, at 46, his mother Cristiane Regina da Silva is four years younger than his son’s new girlfriend.

Hairdresser Cristiane has apparently been shaken by the blaze of publicity her son’s high-profile affair has generated.

One Brazilian website wrote of Jesus and Madge: “Everyone knows they are ‘ficando’ which is a Portuguese expression that means they are kissing and doing other things but without any obligation of being faithful or getting into a relationship afterwards.”

Catharina Franca, 18, who split from the model last year, said: “I think it will be difficult for Jesus to romance anyone for more than a year. He tires easily of girlfriends and had childish tastes.” Fellow ex Fernanda Ferrari, 17, agreed and added: “We always broke up and returned to each other’s arms. It was a childish romance.” But another former girlfriend, 21-year-old Mariana Novak, said: “Jesus would pick me up from school and take me to the park. He kisses very well.” Even so, if rumours are to be believed, Jesus has fallen hard for Madge. His former agent, Sergio Mattos, said: “Jesus was one of my models for a year. He was selected for the W shoot where he first got to know Madonna and after this he fell in love and disappeared for a month without telling me where he was.”

However the rumours also suggest that Jesus’s head-over-heels feeling is not quite reciprocated by Madonna.
One source said: “He is right for her at the moment but she is just having fun.”

There have also been rumours that she is using her new toyboy to upset baseball star ALEX RODRIGUEZ, who it is rumoured she started dating last year.

Daily Mail about M & Jesus "early Valentine treat" this week at the Macelleria restaurant:

"The pair arrived separately to dine at the Macelleria Italian steakhouse in Manhattan's trendy meatpacking district - the second time they've been spotted there this month.

And following the meal on Wednesday night, Madonna left the restaurant first, followed by Luz several minutes later.

Luz was with two friends as he left, but then got into the same waiting car as Madonna alone.

The 50-year-old singer then ducked down in the back seat as they were chauffeured away.

Nude photo of Madonna goes for $37,500

CNN

Christie's auctioned this nude photo of Madonna (partially shown) taken by Lee Friedlander for $37,500.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A nude photograph of pop singer Madonna was sold for $37,500 Thursday afternoon at a Christie's Art House auction.

The photo, originally expected to go for between $10,000 and $15,000, was purchased for more than double its original estimated selling price, a Christie's spokesperson confirmed. The 13-inch by 8 5/8-inch framed photograph was purchased by an anonymous bidder over the phone.

The full frontal photograph was one of several taken by American photographer Lee Friedlander in 1979. Madonna, then a cash-strapped student, received $25 for the entire photo shoot.

Most of the pictures from the shoot were ultimately featured in Playboy magazine in 1985.

NEW YORK – A full-frontal, nude photo of a 20-year-old Madonna fetched $37,500 at auction Thursday, an apparent record auction price for a photograph of the superstar singer.

An unnamed European buyer bought the picture, which had been expected to sell for up to $15,000, according to Christie's auction house.

Madonna, then known as Madonna Louise Ciccone, was a dancer trying to make ends meet when she answered a newspaper ad seeking a nude model. She may have earned as little as $25 for the 1979 photo session.

Lee Friedlander's raw, explicit black-and-white image appeared in Playboy in 1985. Friedlander has said of the photo session that Madonna "seemed very confident, a street-wise girl. She told me she was putting a band together but half the kids that age are doing that. She was a good professional model."

The photograph auctioned Thursday was one of six from that shoot that appeared in Playboy; the other five pictures were sold together in 2003 for $7,170.

A Herb Ritts photo of Madonna's "True Blue" album cover, which sold for more than $15,000 in 2006, is the most expensive photograph of the singer to sell previously at auction, Christie's said.

Another photograph of Madonna, by Helmut Newton, sold Thursday for $18,750, beating a $15,000 estimate. In that shot, also sold to Playboy in the 1980s, Madonna sports lingerie, curly blond hair and a seductive expression. A man kneels beside her.

The Madonna photos were among 150 images, by some of the biggest names in photography, auctioned from the collection of Leon and Michaela Constantiner. They feature fashion and other celebrity icons.

The sale fetched more than $900,000 in all, including a top price of $242,500 for "Sie Kommen," Newton's images of nude models for the Italian and French versions of Vogue in the 1980s.

A third Madonna concert in Spain this Summer?

Madonna Tribe

Spanish newspaper "La Verdad" published an article about negotiations going on between Spanish promoter mec:events the City Council and the Region Government of Murcia to bring Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour in town this Summer.

The date that is being reportedly discussed is the one of July 25 - a Sunday - in a weekend that is still empty in the rather busy schedule of this Summer's leg of the Tour.

It is interesting to see that the article is accurate about the general information on the tour - they are aware that Madonna is already scheduled to perform in Madrid and Barcelona in July, so if this will materialize it would be the third Sticky & Sweet Tour concert in Spain this Summer.
The newspaper reports that the promoter has presented the Madonna concert as a chance to bring the city of Murcia under the international spotlight and therefore asking for the cooperation and support of the local authorities. This same scheme was successfully employed by mec:events last year to bring Madonna to Valencia, although the cost to bring the show to Murcia this Summer is approximately estimated as half of the one for the concert at the Cheste Circuit last year. The article says that the local authorities do not seem particularly keen on the offer and that the biggest competitor for that date is the city of San Sebastian in the Basque Country.

Budapest Gets 'Sticky & Sweet'

Madonna.com

As announced last month, The 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour is to stop in Hungary this summer.
Madonna will perform at Budapest's Kincsem Park on August 22th. The public ticket sale will start on February 20th, at 10am local time.
Also, a devoted fan club pre sale will start on February 17th at 10am LOCAL TIME for Legacy members and at Noon LOCAL TIME for newer members.

Second Swedish show on August 8

Madonna Tribe

The Sticky & Sweet Tour does the double in Gothenburg.
Newspapers such as Expressen reported the news this morning and Live Nation Sweden also confirmed a second date at the Ullevi on Saturday, August 8, the day before the previously announced show, which sold out in just 4 hours the other day.

Tickets will go on sale next Tuesday, February 17 at 09:00 AM local.

Madonna has a history of additional tour dates being added to the existing schedule before the previously announced concerts.
The most notable episode so far was the kick off of the European leg of the Re-Invention tour in Manchester, which moved from the first show to go on sale, the one of August 15, 2004, to the day before, August 14.

Experience says this rather does the trick, as those who purchase tickets for one show can't resist to add another date the day before, while it doesn't always happen like that if the additional performance gets scheduled for the following day.

The fact the concert in Sweden was scheduled for a Saturday looked a bit "suspicious" to some - as usually Saturday night is the most comfortable date in the week for those who travel from afar. But adding a second date the night before seems to fill the gap.

Madonna Tops 2009 Music Money Makers List

Ray Waddell, Nashville

If anyone had any doubt that touring is where the money is in the music business, a quick look at the top Moneymakers for 2008 should hammer the point home.

Regardless of genre, retail sales or radio play, each of the 20 acts on Billboard's Moneymakers list toured in 2008. (Taylor Swift mostly opened for Brad Paisley but doesn't get credit for that revenue). For almost all of them, touring generated the most revenue. And in a year when recorded-music sales declined yet again, many earned more at the box office than ever before.

1. Madonna: $242,176,466
2. Bon Jovi: $157,177,766
3. Bruce Springsteen: $156,327,964
4. The Police: $109,976,894
5. Celine Dion: $99,171,237
6. Kenny Chesney: $90,823,990
7. Neil Diamond: $82,174,000
8. Rascall Flatts: $63,522,160
9. Jonas Brothers: $62,638,814
10. Coldplay: $62,175,555
11. The Eagles: $61,132,213
12. Lil Wayne: $57,441,334
13. AC/DC: $56,505,296
14. Michael Buble: $50,257,364
15. Miley Cyrus: $48,920,806
16. Taylor Swift: $45,588,730
17. Journey: $44,787,328
18. Billy Joel: $44,581,010
19. Mary J. Blige: $43,472,850
20. Kanye West: $42,552,402

The top five Moneymakers are also the five acts that earned the most on tour, and in the same order, according to Billboard Boxscore. Eight of the top 10 Moneymakers are in the Boxscore top 10.

Even more remarkably, the top Moneymaker -- Madonna -- only had the 50th-best-selling album in the country. She ranked 14th on the list of digital track sellers and didn't place on the ringmasters chart. Her place on Moneymakers, like her $242,176,466 income, comes from the highest-earning tour that took place in 2008.

In fact, those questioning whether Madonna rates a reported 10-year, $120 million 360 deal with Live Nation might reconsider. Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour took in $229,886,340 at the box office, although the extravagant production might have cost up to 40% of that gross, according to industry estimates. The margin is much better on tour merchandise, where Madonna probably raked in more than $18 million in sales, not counting her licensing business.

Of course, nothing helps reduce tour production costs like more touring. So Madonna will perform another run of concerts this summer -- 25 shows in the United Kingdom and Europe -- which will add to the take of the top-grossing tour by a female or solo artist.

Outside of the United Kingdom, all of Madonna's concerts will be in stadiums, so she'll gross several million dollars per night. By fall, Sticky & Sweet will have run for 80 shows and earn a place in the top five grossing tours of all time.

This is the first time Madonna has ever extended a tour. "It absolutely hasn't happened in the four tours I've been involved with," says Madonna's tour producer Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation.

"There's been talk [of extending] during each one, but it has never come to be. But with this one, she loves the show, she's had a great time and she's excited about playing new markets."

Madonna and Moore Teaming Up Again for Oscars

E! Online

Move over, Vanity Fair.

Madonna and Demi Moore are on their way to becoming the new queens of Oscar night.

I just got word that the two Hollywood sirens will, as they did last year, cohost a party with Guy Oseary at Oseary's L.A.-area home after this year's awards ceremony on Feb. 22.

Among the guests at last year's soiree were Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Cameron Diaz, Orlando Bloom and even Sir Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, who made their way there after hosting their annual AIDS fundraiser.

Madonna and Moore's guest list will again be invite-only. Hopefully, Moore and hubby Ashton Kutcher will convince Madonna to twitter from the party.

Meanwhile, Sir Elton's 17th annual Oscar benefit for his AIDS foundation will feature a performance by Grammy nominee Raphael Saadiq.

"I won't believe it's happened until it's happened," Saadiq told me the other day. "It's unbelievable."

Vanity Fair will return after taking a break last year because of the writers' strike. Editor-in-chief Graydon Carter and his crew have already said things will be scaled back from years past. Taking place for the first time at Jeff Klein's Sunset Tower hotel, Vanity Fair peeps insist it will be smaller and more intimate than in years past and will use recycled décor to help save money and the environment.

Guy not too pleased about Jesus

According to Metro, Guy Ritchie is pretty pissed about Madonna's involvement with Jesus; they also claim that M and Jesus' outing last week included some PDA:

A spy said: 'During their brunch here, Madonna and Jesus held hands across the table. At one point, Jesus had his hand on her bottom.'

Their date reportedly came just hours after Guy Ritchie put on a brave face to join his ex-wife and children at one of the star's Kabbalah meetings.

Ritchie is in New York filming scenes for his upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie, is already said to be unhappy by Madonna's latest fling.

'Guy doesn't think highly of Jesus since he is convinced this is a casual fling and is not thrilled this is happening so soon after the divorce,' a friend is quoted as saying.

Tickets for the Sticky & Sweet Tour concert at the West Harbour in Helsinki on August 6th went on sale at 9 AM this morning and sold out within three hours.

Fans experienced serious difficulties with both telephone and on-line sales, with lines to the Lippupiste sales office jammed and some callers experiencing crossed connections. R-kiosk sales points also faced difficulties as internet ticket booking services overloaded and crashed.

A record total of 80,000 tickets for the Madonna concert went on sale this morning.

Tickets may still become available for the Helsinki stadium date, according to ticket-vendor Lippupiste, as people who disregarded the six-ticket per person reservation limit will be unable to redeem their tickets.
Lippupiste has issued a warning against buying tickets on the aftermarket. Scalpers have begun selling Sticky & Sweet concert tickets online at very high mark-ups. The company, however, says scalpers may not come into possession of the tickets they are now selling. The wheeling and dealing of Madonna concert tickets is already in full swing at the auction website huuto.net.

The W March isuue with M is here!
Mo, Mr. Cock of Light and 3 other cocks having some sexy time in a hotel in Rio. Here are some of my favorites:

Behind The Scenes in Rio

By Julie L. Belcove
Leave it to Madonna to have the last laugh. With the tabloid media in a frenzy over the 50-year-old’s divorce from Guy Ritchie and alleged dalliance with 33-year-old New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, does she low-key it and go out publicly only with her kids? Does she find an “age appropriate” man, someone born, say, before the Beatles arrived in America?

Hell, no. Madonna has never been one to hide. Nor to apologize. Provocation is simply in her nature. So she teamed once again with photographer Steven Klein for a W photo shoot that thumbs her nose at prudes and busybodies who would call her a cougar. If you think A-Rod is too young for her, how about 20-ish Jesus Luz, a Brazilian model discovered during casting for the shoot in Rio de Janeiro? Madonna and Luz’s obvious chemistry, Creative Director Dennis Freedman recalls, quickly sidelined the other, more seasoned male mannequins as Klein’s heat-seeking lens homed in on the megastar and the unknown. Soon the shoot’s plot, told in Klein’s cinematic style, evolved into the story of a strong, powerful, exceedingly chic woman and her new, boyish, beautiful plaything.

“Blame It on Rio” is Madonna and Klein’s third collaboration for W. The first, “Madonna Unbound” (April 2003), found her twisted like a pretzel in a photographic meditation on the performance process. The second, “Madonna Rides Again” (June 2006), explored her, uh, passion for horses. And now comes her appreciation for the male form. “Each one is extraordinarily ambitious,” says Freedman.

But who would expect anything less from Madonna? Say what you will about her, she is no slacker. She agreed to undertake the W project on her two-day break between concerts in Rio and São Paulo on the South American leg of her Sticky & Sweet Tour. The first day was devoted to fittings, and on the second, Freedman says, “she worked well into the night” as the crew plowed through a storyboard’s worth of scenes. And if she managed to squeeze a little pleasure into all that business, who are we to criticize?

General Admission - 220 zl (50 € approx.)
Seats - 400 zl (91 € approx.)

Inside Madonna's wardrobe

Times Online

From New York club kid to Evita – Madonna’s reinventions have been at the centre of her success. As a collection of her stage costumes goes on show, we try on some of her most famous garments – and Lisa Armstrong considers the semiotics of those bras, bustiers and sequins.

Even if you are as one with Lily (“Madonna is the most overrated person in pop history”) Allen, there is something satisfyingly perverse about seeing her clothes become, in these topsy-turvy economic times, the stuff of investors’ dreams. At any rate, two venture capitalists, with an eye to future riches, have spent the past two years tracking down her more memorable outfits, chasing up documentation to corroborate their provenance (you wouldn’t believe the number of fakes out there) and batting away rival collectors in the bidding wars.

The fruits, so far, tally some 250 items of clothing, plus another 50 or so pieces of Madonna ephemera, including awards, although perhaps they won’t prove so ephemeral. “I’m by no means a Madonna freak,” says Chetan Trivedi, one of the VCs, “but when you look at how wide her demographic is and how long she has been at the top, Madonna’s clothes start to look like a better bet than the stock market.” This is a point not lost on the Material One herself, who has a warehouse in Los Angeles where she stores the pieces she’s kept post-1993.

What makes this collection more visceral than most are the traces of the woman who wore them – make-up smudges on a beret, perspiration stains on one of the corsets worn in rehearsals. For the moment, the collection resides in the vaults of Coutts, but soon it will be unleashed in an exhibition. And for anyone with an interest in popular culture, it’s worth a look. Madonna’s assault on the world can’t properly be viewed outside the prism of the clothes she wore while mounting it. From the early scavenged props, through the dark Marlene years, when Madonna gender-bent and flashed more parts of her anatomy than seemed compatible with her status as a world superstar, to the pastel Juicy Couture jogging suits of the early Mummy years, from Geisha Girl to Braveheart, Latino sexpot to Marie Antoinette, voluptuous Marilyn to a 50-year-old leotard-toting, designer-bandage-sporting defier of gravity, fashion has been integral to her identity.

No one can accuse her of idleness. In 25 years she has developed a new kind of body to aspire to, one that arguably hands women power over their shape; extended the shelf life of gyrating female performers by two decades and counting; pushed female sexual boundaries to places that chart-topping female singers had never seen the need to drag them (granted, this wasn’t always a pretty sight); invited the gay scene to the mainstream party; experimented with most genres of pop and rock; defied social mores (then embraced them); and subjected herself to more image changes than a serial witness protection scheme participant.

Naturally, this was all entirely self-seeking – and not especially original. Arguably, her most creative fashion legacy, pieced together from fragments worn by Martha Graham dancers, the street and Madonna’s idiosyncratic twists, was the first public incarnation, made famous in the Like a Virgin video, then indelible in Desperately Seeking Susan. This rag-tag look endeared because it was accessible and yet distinctive, achieved without money. It captured an aspect of the Eighties that tends to be overlooked: the decade’s optimism, verve and spirit of DIY.

The other style moments, like her musical output, are generally the fruits of gifted larceny. She didn’t invent conical bras, any more than she came up with the concept of androgyny.

But she knew the right time to wear them – after the prototypes had been perfected, but before they’d lost their power to shock or surprise. And yet for all the thrusting and sexual provocation, she has never really been a (straight) man magnet. She’s way too terrifying, particularly during her gynaecologically obsessed period.

But if you’re a woman, if you’re gay, if you’ve ever enjoyed one of her songs or thought she looked nice dressed up as Eva Perón, if you’re one of scores of designers, from the global big shots to the unknowns, whom she patronised and subsequently put on the map, then you’ve been under the Madonna influence. Resistance may just be futile.

The exhibition Simply Madonna is at the Old Truman Brewery, London E1, from February 21 to March 31

Material Girl, 1985

Hiring a kitschly pink satin strapless dress for the video of Material Girl, Madonna openly plagiarised Monroe’s scene in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. But where Monroe was part gold-digger, part adorable naif, Madonna is entirely knowing. This was a platinum blonde whose eyebrows were deliberately left a contradictory shade of charcoal and whose body was beginning to look as though she could go several rounds in the ring. Given that workout regime, Monroe wouldn’t be the later Madonna’s chosen screen reference – Dietrich would, and not the fleshy young Dietrich of the Lola era.

Attempting to put a twist on Anita Loos’ satire on materialism, Madonna, hair slickly waved, interspersed scenes from the 1953 movie with a new story that showed her playing an actress being wooed by a Hollywood director who has to pretend to be poor in order to win her (unmaterialistic) heart. Hah! Ironically, it’s Monroe who emerges as the more subversive.

Sex, 1992

Jean Paul Gaultier had been playing with cone bras through the Eighties, and Yves Saint Laurent had tinkered with them 20 years earlier. But no one expected anyone to wear them, until Madonna commissioned Gaultier to design the costumes for her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990.

This period saw Madonna’s exhibitionism reach potentially corrosive extremes, culminating with Sex, the explicit picture book she released in 1992. Flaunting its artistic credentials – the photographs were taken by Italian Vogue’s Steven Meisel – Sex was a puzzling and shocking detour from a superstar who, so it seemed, didn’t need to strip off and get gynaecological. Sex sold out, but along with 1993’s Body of Evidence, in which Madonna played a woman trying to kill a man by having sex with him, it almost finished her career. A period of relative restraint followed.

Evita, 1996

Madonna’s formidable lobbying tactics paid off when Alan Parker finally cast her in the role she felt she was born to play. You can see why she identified with Eva Perón up to a point: humble background, ruthless climb to the top. But Evita was more than a demanding diva; she was thought to be complicit in the disappearance of anyone who crossed her, as well as millions of Argentina’s missing pesos. Oh well, she gave great wardrobe.

Working out every day despite her pregnancy (Lourdes Ciccone was born three months before the premiere), Madonna more than did Perón’s style justice. In curlicues of eyeliner and Christian Dior lipstick, she worked every one of those 85 costume changes, 39 hats and 49 hairstyles.

This was a first glimpse of Madonna doing ladylike, later a glossy magazine staple in her English country lady period. The release of the film saw a revival in Forties tailoring, and for months Madonna wore suits and cultivated an überpale skin.

Music, 2000

Having exhausted Eva Perón and geishas, Madonna turned to facets of her homeland that had previously failed to engage her. Although the early Noughties vogue for ghetto fabulousness seemed at odds with Madonna’s increasing interest in kabbalah, it provided some irresistible style opportunities. The white three-piece trouser suit she wore for the Music video (in which she allowed Sacha Baron Cohen’s alter ego Ali G – then Britain’s coolest comic figure – to send her up, thus winning hearts in her adopted homeland) was not a million miles from the Savile Row-inspired tailoring her friend Stella McCartney was churning out for her recently launched label.

American Pie, 2000

The vest-and-jeans outfit that Madonna wore for her American Pie video was as wholesome and straightforward as the raven hair and kimono-inspired clothes of Ray of Light had been mysterious (or pretentious, depending on your taste).

If her cover of Don McLean’s Sixties standard was banal, it at least pre-empted the waves of patriotism that engulfed America after 9/11 – and, as McLean contentedly noted, ensured that “I’ll never have to work again.”

Re-Invention Tour, 2004

Jean Paul Gaultier was back on board, along with Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix and Stella McCartney. Madonna’s pirating tendencies were more eclectic than ever – ranging from Marie Antoinette to Braveheart and Carnival, and the clothes were some of the most beautiful to have gone on a pop tour. But the whole enterprise felt like a stock-taking of sort; a montage of Madonna’s greatest style hits was played on a giant screen every night – an indication that while the chameleon gene was still active, the desire for dramatic transformations that spilt over into real life was waning.

Madonna fans frozen out

Manchester Evening News

RICHARD GAYNOR was so determined to get a front-row seat to see his idol Madonna that he spent 18 hours in freezing temperatures outside the M.E.N. Arena box office.

The 38-year-old should have suspected something when he saw there were only 35 others in the queue.

It was only when the ticket office opened at 9am that he realised the best seats for the concert in July had been snapped up by fans online.

"It was torture in the night," said Richard, from Rusholme, after getting a ticket.

"I felt like an icicle in the morning. I'm a little disappointed. I'd like to have been at the front of the stage. I just think that some seats should be given to the venue for those people who queue up like this.

"I thought there would be more people in the queue when I arrived.

"The last time I saw Madonna there were already lots of people queuing by 9pm the night before the box office opened."

Madonna will bring her Sticky and Sweet world tour to Manchester on July 7 - her third appearance in the city in 25 years.

Hacienda

She first played Manchester at the Hacienda in 1984 - her British debut - which was filmed for Channel 4 music show The Tube.

She returned in 2004 with her sell-out Re-Invention tour.

The Sticky and Sweet tour came to Europe last year but did not stop in Manchester.

It was the highest-grossing tour in history for a solo artist and featured tracks from her latest No 1 album, Hard Candy, as well as older classics.

Tickets priced up to £175 went on sale at 9am yesterday. Fan club members were able to buy tickets beforehand. Dale Speight, 18, from Bury, queued for more than 12 hours. He said: "I arrived at 8.30pm the night before and was second in the queue. It was freezing. I was expecting more people there. It was very cold, but it was worth it.

"You never know if this will be her last tour. She may retire from touring, but at least I'll be able to tell my grandchildren I was there."

Julie McKnight, 36, from Droylsden, arrived at the arena at 3pm on Thursday, but decided to see a show there when she realised the queue was so small.

She then returned at 9.30pm and spent a cold night waiting for the box office to open.

Julie said: "I'm taking my daughter to the show. She's seven, so it will be a real treat for her. It was definitely worth queuing overnight to see her. Madonna seems to have got better with age.

"But I think some seats at the front should have been allocated for those who queued."

A spokesman for the M.E.N. Arena said ticketing arrangements were a matter for the promoters, Live Nation. Live Nation declined to comment.

Sticky & Sweet in Belgium - Sold Out!!

Tickets for Madonna’s concert, scheduled for July 11 in Werchter, were sold out on Saturday. The sale started at 09am. Tele Ticket Service and Proximus Go For Music, managing the sales, have encountered some technical problems because of the huge number of people on their website. The situation has normalized Saturday afternoon and the servers were able to function at full capacity. The 65,000 tickets available have been sold.

W Magazine is coming....!!!

NY Daily News

As if A-Rod didn't have enough to worry about.

Photos of Madonna getting hot and sticky with four Brazilian boy toys are about to hit newsstands.

Even as Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez battles allegations of steroid use, W magazine will debut a 45-page spread in which the kabbalah vixen of his dreams can be seen simulating (at least we think she's simulating) sex with a quartet of hunks.

The biggest slice of beefcake in the spread is 22-year-old Ford model Jesus Luz, who's rumored to have replaced A-Rod as Madonna's main muscleman.

The layout, shot by top fashion photographer Steven Klein, shows Her Madgesty, 50, half-naked in black lingerie, straddling one stud on a hotel bed while being attended by three other pleasure-givers, one of whom barely conceals his manhood with a towel.

Although not as explicit as her X-rated 1992 book, "Sex," the shoot marks Madonna's return to the sort of arty raunch she abandoned when she married British director Guy Ritchie and took on the airs of an English countrywoman.

The W portfolio, headlined "Blame it On Rio," gives prominent play to Luz, who reportedly accompanied Madonna to the Maldives in December. Last week, he was seen with her in New York, where he's said to have dined with the Material Mom and her children.

Asked about the nature of Madonna's relationship with Luz, her rep, Liz Rosenberg, said, "I'm told they're kind of friends."
