Madonna wins battle to take children to US
Robert Mendick, Chief Reporter
Madonna is poised to take her children to the US after winning a residency battle with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie, the Evening Standard can reveal.
The pop star is understood to have been given temporary permission to remove their two sons from Britain. The agreement is expected to be made permanent within a fortnight.
A source close to the negotiations said today: “Everything is going to be resolved in the next couple of weeks. Everything is going well. It's pretty amicable at the moment. Things are progressing.”
A legal insider said arrangements had been resolved and that it was “unheard of” for such agreements to be overturned at a later date. The source said: “There was a issue about where the children should live but that has been decided in Madonna's favour.”
The decision paves the way for Madonna, 50, to take sons Rocco, eight, and David, three, who was adopted from a Malawi orphanage, to live with her in New York. The father of Madonna's eldest child, Lourdes, 12, lives in New York and it has been widely reported that she is keen to move back there.
She is said to be dating Alex Rodriguez, the highest paid player in baseball, who plays for the New York Yankees. Her spokeswoman today refused to comment on her post-divorce plans. The agreement over where the children should live brings to an end a divorce battle which has seen Ritchie, 40, pick up close to £45 million in cash, a country estate in Wiltshire and a London pub.
The couple were granted a "quickie" divorce in November but had failed to settle their differences over the children. Ritchie had wanted Rocco, upon whom he dotes, to be educated in England but Madonna's lawyers argued that the children should not be split up and should remain with their mother.
It is likely his sons will divide their time between London and New York but be educated in the US. Today Madonna announced a new European tour beginning on 4 July at the O2 Arena, with tickets costing as much as £175, and ending in Slovenia on 20 August. That would allow Madonna to hand over the boys to Ritchie while she is on tour.
The "amicable" resolution will earn the couple praise for putting their differences aside for the sake of their children. It will also be seen as a triumph for the couple's solicitors Fiona Shackleton, representing Madonna, and Helen Ward, for Ritchie, who managed to keep the case from going to trial and avoid the unseemly row that engulfed Paul McCartney's divorce from Heather Mills. That case took two years to resolve and cost millions of pounds in legal fees.

Madonna's Arena date in Manchester
Exclusive Chris Osuh
January 30, 2009
MADONNA will perform at the M.E.N. Arena in one of only two confirmed British dates this year.
The pop superstar brings her Sticky and Sweet world tour to Manchester in July, before heading to Europe.
It is only the third appearance 50-year-old Madonna has made in the city in 25 years, and this time she will be accompanied by trance DJ Paul Oakenfold.
Madonna first played in the city at the Hacienda in 1984, her British debut which was filmed for Channel 4 music show The Tube. She returned in 2004 with her sell-out Re-Invention tour.
The Sticky and Sweet tour came to Europe last year but did not stop in Manchester. It was the biggest grossing tour in history for a solo artist, featuring tracks from her latest No 1 album, Hard Candy, as well as old classics.
Tickets for the fully-seated July 7 show, which follows a London date, are priced £65, £85, £110 and £175 and go on sale next Friday. Call 0844 847 8000.
Madonna’s ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour’ Goes Back on the Road Summer 2009
Madonna’s phenomenally successful ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour’, already the #1 Biggest Grossing Tour in history for a solo artist, will embark on another series of shows beginning July 4th in London. (Schedule follows this release). Stops will include appearances in never before played markets such as Werchter Belgium, Marseille France, Hamburg Germany, Oslo Norway, Helsinki Finland, Tallinn Estonia, Ljubljana Slovenia as well as stops in Romania, Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria it was confirmed today by Live Nation. Additional appearances by Madonna will include return visits after more than 15 years to Madrid, Gothenburg and Munich.
“This is a first for me. I’ve never extended a tour before. I’m excited to be going back on the road, visiting places I’ve never been and returning to places I love” commented Madonna about the new run of dates.
Raves around the globe for the tour include the London Times which remarked, “In the premiere league of song-and-dance spectaculars, the queen of pop remains unrivaled and undefeated.” “The choreography, visuals and live talent were world class and mind-blowingly well executed, intelligent and witty,” glowed The Independent (UK).
In 2008, the ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour was seen by 2,350,285 fans in 58 cities. With record breaking ticket sales everywhere, including 650,000 tickets sold in her series of South American dates, 72,000 tickets at Zurich’s Dubendorf Airfield - the largest audience ever assembled for a show in Switzerland, 75,000 tickets in London and four sell outs in New York’s Madison Square Garden (60,364 tickets).
“This new run of dates will further solidify Madonna’s position as one of the top selling touring artists of all time,” said Arthur Fogel, Live Nation’s Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring/Artist Nation.
Special Guest for Sticky & Sweet 2009, Paul Oakenfold has long been one of the most important–if not the most important–name in modern club culture. He has remixed The Rolling Stones U2, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dog, Muse New Order, The Cure, Massive Attack and even Elvis Presley and produced The Happy Mondays. The two time Grammy nominee is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the biggest DJ in the world. His new artist album, ‘Pop Killer’ is due out later this year.
Madonna’s multi-Grammy-nominated CD ‘Hard Candy’ debuted at Number One in over 37 countries.

Madonna to play Milan on July 14
We also heard that the new version of the Sticky & Sweet Tour will be touching two cities in the United Kingdom, one being London in the first week of July with the O2 as the chosen venue. Other concert dates are planned, among others, in two cities in Spain, and two cities in Germany.
There is also a page currently set up for Madonna at the Live Nation website for Poland.
Madonna resuming Sticky & Sweet Tour
Madonna will crank up her Sticky & Sweet tour again this summer with about 25 more shows in the U.K. and Europe. The initial trek wrapped December 21 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The final leg of the tour -- already the top-grossing tour ever by a female or solo artist -- will start in London at the O2 Arena on July 4. Madonna also will play the Manchester (U.K.) Evening News Arena. The rest of the shows on the tour will be at stadiums in European markets that Madonna has never played or hasn't played in several years, according to tour producer Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation. The complete route and list of venues will be released Friday (January 30).
Adding another leg to a tour is a highly unusual move for Madonna. "It absolutely has not happened in the four tours I've been involved with," Fogel told Billboard.com. "There has been talk (of extending) during each one, but it has never come to be. But with this one, she loves the show, she's had a great time and she's excited about playing new markets."
The extension will take Sticky & Sweet to around 80 shows, and boost it well into the top five grossing tours of all time. Despite the more than six-month break, the tour will feature the same production and performers as in 2008.
The Sticky & Sweet tour was the first under a 10-year multi-rights agreement between Madonna and Live Nation, valued in some reports at about $120 million (84.4 million pounds).

As this month’s winner, Raising Malawi receives a $10,000 grant to be put toward improving the health and education of Malawi’s kids. In a nation where every penny truly counts, this money will do a great deal of good. The Impact Award also means invaluable publicity for Raising Malawi and its partner organizations. Madonna and Raising Malawi would like to thank all the MySpace users who voted for Raising Malawi and helped to spread the word about the important work of this remarkable organization. With the unified support of dedicated volunteers worldwide, there’s no limit to the impact we can make.
Madonna S&S date in Marseille, France?
Anthea Turner on Madonna
Anthea Turner, the television presenter and former Blue Peter star, has posed for a magazine in thigh-high boots, white knickers and bandaged chest in an attempt to emulate Madonna.
Anthea said about M: "I've got a huge amount of respect for Madonna - she's often labelled a control freak but she's just a perfectionist. There's a difference between looking tacky and artistic, and I think Madonna looks incredible. You can celebrate your body whatever age you are - there's no limit."Even with leaked outtakes M manages to create a controversy and debate. That's the power of Madonna!
Confirmed!!!
The following announcement was made on M's official website:
“Madonna fans, are you ready for more? We are happy to confirm that the rumors are true: Madonna has decided to extend her 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour. She is looking forward to an amazing summer in Europe, hitting the cities she didn't get a chance to in 2008.”
“While detailed itinerary will be released later this week, we highly encourage you to wait for official on-sale dates and info before ordering tickets to rumored shows and venues."
"Get ready for another hot summer…. Madonna is hitting the road again!"
Further more, Madonna Tribe reports that M plans to go Nordic with next leg of S&S:
"According to reports by Finnish tv channel MTV3 Madonna seems to be confirmed for a show in Helsinki, Finland. Jätkäsaari, the rumoured venue, is a former dock area in the city with a capacity up to 80,000 people that would be used to organize a live event for the fist time. If this materializes, it will be the biggest concert ever in Finland. MTV3 reports that an official confirmation is expected in a few days."

Madrod - Back On?
MADONNA has resumed her "affair of the heart" with Alex Rodriguez. Madge spent last weekend with the Yankee slugger - and Joe Torre target - at the East Hampton home of Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, sources said."
Madonna spotted in Wellington, Florida at the Winter Equestrian Festival
Page2live reports that M "watched professional show-jumpers for nearly two hours from her third-row $35,000-per-season table at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center’s VIP club. The Material Girl managed to go practically incognito behind thick dark glasses and under an orange baseball hat with a Che Guevara-like silhouette on the front."
Steven Klein is there with her, as you can see him behind her in the photo:
The L.A. Times adds that "Madonna was rumored to make an appearance at Sunday's $50,000 Equisport Agency Grand Prix. She was spotted by Dish Rag spies at the Equestrian Center this weekend, checking out the scene but mentioned she might not make an appearance in the stands due to press and photographers. Our source says: 'Madonna was in a box with a few other adults at the table watching the horses jump. She had an orange hat on with her hair pulled back. I did not see any kids with her or A-Rod. I know that she is here for two weeks with her trainer'."
As we said before; assuming she's staying in Miami, we wouldn't be too surprised if A-Rod will spotted around...!

Filth and Wisdom at the 2009 Mardi Gras Film Festival
Filth and Wisdom
Madonna, UK, 2008, 85min
The reviews of Madonna’s writer/director debut will tell you in no uncertain terms, you’ll either love it or hate it, but isn’t that a delicious challenge to be offered? The Material Girl appears to have returned to her bohemian roots in this tale of three rag-tag Londonites surviving their oddball lives together. Madonna has said each character represents a personality she herself could have been (had she not become THE Madonna). Narrator A.K is a Ukrainian immigrant who heads up a Gypsy punk band, financing his dreams of rock glory by moonlighting as a cross-dressing dominatrix for married straight men. He lives with Holly, a professional ballet dancer turned stripper and pole dancer, and Juliette, a self-medicating pharmacy assistant who longs to feed the starving children of Africa.
With the help of a cameo by Richard E. Grant, these three eventually learn - in order to gain wisdom, you gotta get a little filthy.
