Oakenfold: 'Madonna songs cutting edge'
Paul Oakenfold has described the new material he has recorded with Madonna as "cutting edge sounds combined with classic Madonna".
The pair spent a week together in the studio last month producing songs for the 'Miles Away' singer's upcoming greatest hits package.
Oakenfold confirmed that the new material will be previewed when he opens for Madonna on the second leg of her 'Sticky And Sweet' world tour, which kicks off in London on July 4.
The DJ will also play at the Wireless Festival before supporting Madonna on European dates in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Russia and Eastern Europe.
His new album Pop Killer is expected to be released in 2010 and features collaborations with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder and Ce-Lo.

First part on the interview with Paul Oakenfold and some more about the new music
First Part of the Interview with Paul Oakenfold:
Paul Oakenfold was in the studio this week, producing new songs with Madonna for her upcoming Greatest Hits. Paul took some time to answer a few questions regarding the new material and we’re happy to share his answers to the first two questions today.
Q: How did you come to work with Madonna on the new songs?
A. I was approached by Guy Oseary to see if I was interested in working with Madonna in the studio.
Q: Could you tell us more about the sound you have developed for them?
A: I was looking for a cutting-edge sound with an old-school classic feel. I think we have achieved that and I think people are going to be really happy with this bunch of songs.

Another producer of the new songs for Madonna’s hits collection is DJ Frank E. He was with M in the studio this Thursday, and is back again today.
From DJ Frank E Twitter:

TRACY'S TUNES
Spending seven weeks with Tracy Anderson and her trainers gave me a few things, not the least of which was a new appreciation for Britney Spears. We listened to “Womanizer” more times than I can count, and there’s a reason Brit’s at the top of the charts yet again: The girl is good. Madonna was also on regular rotation, and according to Anderson, Madge does listen to her own material while working out. (Why are we not surprised?) Here, the top workout tunes most on Anderson's playlist:
1. “Radar,” Britney Spears
2. “Miles Away,” Madonna
3. “Viva La Vida,” Coldplay
4. “Jai Ho,” A.R. Rahman, Sukhvinder Singh, Tanvi Shah and Mahalaxmi Iyer (from Slumdog Millionaire)
5. “Incredible,” Madonna
6. “Disturbia,” Rihanna
7. “Release Me,” Agnes Carlsson
8. “Give It 2 Me,” Madonna
9. “If U Seek Amy,” Britney Spears
10. “Look at Me Now,” Agnes Carlsson
11. “Just Dance,” Lady GaGa & Colby O’Donis
12. “Stronger,” Kanye West
13. “Closer,” Ne-Yo
14. “Lose Control,” Missy Elliott featuring Ciara and Fat Man Scoop

Gwyneth, Madonna and Me
When Tracy Anderson tries to convince me to do something—say, give up yogurt or kick my leg over a metal bar that’s almost as tall as I am—she invokes her two most famous clients as though they were the gospel. “Madonna would never do dairy,” she tells me at our first meeting. “I’m giving you Gwyneth’s legs right now,” she promises another day, when I am on the verge of collapsing on top of an aerobic step.To read the rest of the article click here

''Hits'' - Madonna's GH working title?
Adam&Co. is an award winning creative studio located in Boston, specialized in branding, packaging and brand identities. Their recent work captured the eye of Rachel Dunagan at thedieline.com website, who posted a blog entry about the work Adam&Co submitted when they were asked to present concepts for Madonna's forthcoming Greatest Hits compilation, due out September, a project they simply name as "Hits".
"The project evolved in a different direction but we thought this packaging deserved to see the light of day in some form or fashion!", the die line writes.

Steven Meisel could be involved in the making of Madonna's upcoming 'GHV3'. It seems that Meisel was hired to create the photoshoot to be used for the album's cover artwork and inside booklet. Madonna and Meisel's latest collaboration was for the 2008 Vanity Fair photoshoot.

Guy Oseary Answers 10 questions from fans
Madonna's Official Fan Club - Icon
1) Would you consider an Asian leg for Madonna's next tour?
Madonna loves Asia and definitely would love to go back.
2) What are the plans, if any, for a Sticky & Sweet Tour DVD/CD Release? Will it include a tour documentary?
We plan on having the DVD/CD come out in the fall, hopefully in November. Nathan Rissman shot hours and hours of b-roll. We will edit it down and definitely include highlights in the DVD.
3) Now that Madonna has decided to extend her "Sticky and Sweet" tour, is there any chance for her to release a 4th single off her 'Hard Candy' album?
I don't see that happening.
4) Could you tell us more about the new Greatest Hits to be released by Warner Bros? Will it include unreleased tracks? Is there a release date available?
We are trying to get two new tracks on the album. But not sure if they should be "never before heard" gems, or simply start from scratch. She is thinking about doing something dance and up tempo, so stay tuned....
5) Will this summer's show be the exact same as last year's? Will Madonna make some changes to the set list, costumes?
Mostly it will be the same, with an added surprise song to the show. Again, stay tuned.
7) What is your best memory with Madonna?
My best memory? Too many to mention. I've been with Madonna for over half my life. My favorite moments are when we are alone, taking a walk through the countryside together or having dinner together. I do have fond memories of when I first became friends with Madonna. I was such a kid who knew so little , yet she took my hand and showed me the world. It's been an amazing ride.
8.) Do you know what Madonna thinks of her fan club and all of her devoted fans there?
She loves her fans. Honestly everything she does she considers her fans. I can give you an example from tour -
When she did the L.A. Dodger Stadium show the whole front of the stage broke the night before the show. We almost cancelled. When I said "don't worry, everything will be fine no one will care", she responded "no my fans will care, they notice everything!" She doesn't want to do anything less than amazing for her fans. But at the same time, she didn't want to let down her fans by canceling the show, so at 9 pm the night before, she said the show must go on. All these decisions are always made with the fans in mind. She has seen many of Iconers showing up at each show and she really appreciates it - you know who you are!
9) Will Madonna release some unreleased songs or demos from her past albums at some point?
At some point, would love to do something amazing with the remixes and demos. Thanks to you guys for many of your suggestions on this, they are all being considered.
10) Why wasn't Australia included in the tour itinerary and will she visit Australia anytime soon?
Madonna really needs to go to Australia!! Its a must...and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure we get there next time Madonna tours. Unfortunately it didn't work out for this tour. She appreciates her Aussie fans coming to many of the shows. Israel never missed one show in Europe or South America and he waved his Australian flag at every single show. We are long over due for a trip down under and apologize for that, it will happen.

Madonna's Greatest Hits Album to Include New Songs
Calling all Madonna fans! The Queen of Pop is coming out with a long-awaited greatest hits collection this fall.
'We're hoping to have a greatest hits package come out in September," the singer's longtime publicist, Liz Rosenberg, tells PEOPLE. "We're all very excited about it."
With so many hit songs to choose from over her long career, the singer's manager, Guy Oseary, asked fans on Twitter Tuesday which tunes they think should be included. "Working on Madonna's greatest hits album," he wrote. "Any tracks that you think MUST be on?"
Still, the new album won't only feature songs her fans know and love. "Madonna does have plans to go into the studio to record a few new songs for this album," says Rosenberg.

Flaming Lips do "Borderline"
"Coyne got a lot of insight into Madonna by singing that song, because he didn't know the song had sexual undertones. Coyne told his band, 'What is this? What is she singing about?' and they said, 'Dude, she's Madonna. What do you think she's singing about?'"
Warner Acts Go Covers Acts Crazy For Caompilation

Madonna's banned advert
By John Hand
THE ADVERT: Madonna, singing Like a Prayer for Pepsi in 1989
THE SCHTICK: The cola wars in full swing, Pepsi wheeled out its big gun - the Queen of Pop - to perform her latest single
THE BREAKDOWN: It was, the TV voiceover promised us, not to be missed. The Material Girl was to put the fizz into Pepsi's campaign - for a fee of $5m.
The premiere of Madonna's Like A Prayer in a two-minute advert was notable enough to be reported on ITN's News At Ten, and ITV ran trailers advertising when it would be shown - 8.12pm on Thursday 2 March, 1989.
But within 48 hours of the much-hyped worldwide premiere, the company pulled the ad, and it was never screened again.
This was because influential church groups in the United States had threatened a mass boycott of Pepsi products, troubled by the Catholic-born star's ongoing flirtation with religious imagery.
The ad starts with Madonna watching black-and-white footage supposedly of her own eighth birthday party. Then magically, the star and her younger self switch places. Mini-Madonna wanders around the singer's apartment, marvelling at posters of her adult self and finds the same doll she has been given as a birthday gift. The ad ends with grown-up Madonna telling her young self "go ahead, make a wish" - as they both drink Pepsi.
That slogan was intended to become as synonymous with Pepsi as "It's the real thing" is with rivals Coke. But the feelgood factor did not last long for its executives.
Within a couple of days came the second act in the drama. The video for Like A Prayer hit TV screens. It opened with Madonna fleeing the scene of a rape. She runs into a church and prays before a statue of a saint, played by a black actor, before flashbacks reveal she witnessed the attack, carried out by a white man. But an innocent black man (the saint's double) is arrested.
There are burning crosses and Madonna suffers stigmata before heading off to put right this miscarriage of justice.
Within hours, American religious groups complained about the portrayal of Jesus Christ (as some viewers assumed the saintly character to be) as a black man being kissed by Madonna.
With MTV unlikely to ban the video, the groups tried a new tack - threaten to boycott Pepsi.
The campaign was promptly shelved. Twenty years on, a Pepsi spokesman says it was an unfortunate episode.
"While our commercial bore no resemblance to the video, many people who were offended by the video made no distinction between the two. We felt that the only appropriate step under the circumstances was to immediately stop airing the commercial."
Business decision
Ruth Mortimer, associate editor of Marketing Week, says that today there would be even more of a reaction."Religious groups know what they can achieve if they complain. Big companies in the States tend to be particularly sensitive in that area."
When it comes to celebrity advertising campaigns, companies buy into the star's image.
And when things go wrong for that person, it's time for a corporate rethink. Wrigley's chewing gum recently withdrew its adverts starring singer Chris Brown, who is facing assault charges.
Ms Mortimer believes Pepsi had little choice: "You have to weigh it up carefully, whether the complainants come from a group that are particularly likely to buy your brand.
"Pepsi is a very mainstream brand so it's quite difficult for them to do something edgy."Since 1989, Pepsi has had more big-name celebrity endorsements (Britney, Beyonce and Beckham) while Madonna has fronted campaigns for companies as varied as Max Factor, BMW, Versace and Gap.
Clare Parmenter, of the Madonnalicious fansite, says Pepsi should have realised Madonna might be a controversial choice.
"She has become more famous for shocking people since then. It seemed like it was the start of her really pushing the boundaries."So what happened to the other central figure in the drama - the black actor who played the saint and the innocent man?
Leon (who, like Madonna, eschews his surname) went on to star in Cool Runnings, Disney's 1993 film about Jamaica's bobsleigh team.
He's also appeared in Sylvester Stallone's Cliffhanger and Ali with Will Smith, and in TV films about The Temptations, Jackie Wilson and Little Richard.
He recalls: "I didn't want to do a pop video. I saw myself as a serious actor and all I knew of Madonna was her dancing around. But I was persuaded to meet the director and hear the concept."
He did not see the storyline as controversial. "I actually thought it was great for anyone who is religious. It shows Madonna witnessing an attack and then going to a church for guidance.
"I really think that Pepsi made a hasty decision, but it was their own money they were throwing away."
